Today was the first day of installation.
These might be the first works I have created with an international audience in mind. This is a new experience for me, because earlier, when I worked on themes of the war in Ukraine, my personal reflections and emotions about the russian-Ukrainian war, I always focused on my own inner world.
This time I shifted the focus. I feel it is necessary to build communication with the audience in a different way. Our experiences, our pain, and our perspective on the war remain incomprehensible to those who have never lived through anything similar. That is why the works I will present are almost free of metaphors.
I am tired of speaking about the war through metaphors. I want to speak quickly and directly:
right now, there is genocide happening in Europe; right now, help is needed, support is needed, protection is needed, weapons are needed. Right now, russia is testing NATO’s red lines. Right now, it is necessary to do everything possible to isolate russia and to strengthen economic and cultural sanctions.
That is why I decided to step away from “highly artistic” language and try a more direct, even stressful, form of communication. And yet, it is still art .. so I am curious to see how the audience will respond to this artistic language.
Opening day at @platform_rf is this Friday at 6 PM.
After that, the gallery space will be open:
• Friday from 5 to 8 PM
• Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 6 PM
The exhibition will run until October 12 (inclusive).
