The project "Family portrait" addresses the issue of lost private photo archives of Ukrainians. This topic remains one of the less visible, yet deeply traumatic consequences of war. The installation is based on images of missile traces placed in old frames that were traditionally used for family photographs.
These frames are found objects that already carry their own history of domestic use and memory, but were also abandoned: not by choice, but by circumstance.
During the full-scale ru_war in Ukraine, thousands of families have lost their photo albums: family portraits and childhood photographs were burned in fires, damaged by floods, destroyed by explosions, or left behind among the ruins and in abandoned homes in temporarily occupied territories.
For many people, these images were the only visible evidence of their childhood, family connections, and important moments of life.
Such a loss is not simply a loss of information, but a rupture in both personal and collective memory.
Missile traces in the sky are also visually similar to the trails of civilian aircraft, which have been absent from Ukrainian airspace for many years. They form a paradoxical “family album” of the present time. The place of images of loved ones is taken by the trajectories of weapons, while the frames - originally meant to preserve memory - now hold the experience of ongoing threat in focus.
The project "Family portrait" is an attempt to articulate war through the formation of a new collectie memory, where the personal and the shared can no longer be separated, and private archives become a site of cultural and historical vulnerability.

Проєкт "Сімейний портрет" порушує питання втрачених приватних фото архівів українців. Ця тема поки одна з малопомітних, але глибоко травматичних в часи війни. В основі інсталяції зображення слідів ракет у старих рамках, які раніше використовуються для сімейних фотографій.
Ці рамки є знайденими об’єктами, що вже мають власну історію побутового використання та пам’яті, але також були покинуті, от лише з власної волі власників.
Під час повномасштабної війни в Україні тисячі родин втратили свої фотоальбоми: сімейні портрети, світлини з дитинства, згоріли під час пожеж, повеней, були знищені вибухами та залишилися серед руїн чи в покинутих домівках на тимчасово окупованих територіях.
Для багатьох людей ці зображення були єдиним видимим свідченням власного дитинства, родинних зв’язків, важливих моментів життя.
Така втрата означає не просто втрату інформації, а розрив в персональній та колективній пам’яті.
Сліди ракет у небі візуально також схожі до слідів цивільних літаків, відсутніх в українському просторі довгі роки. Вони формують парадоксальний «сімейний альбом» теперішнього часу. Місця образів близьких людей займають траєкторії зброї, а рамки, які створені для демонстрації пам’яті, тепер тримають у фокусі досвід поточної загрози.
Проєкт "Сімейний портрет" - це спроба продемонструвати війну через формування нової колективної пам’яті, де особисте і спільне більше не розділяються, а приватні архіви стають полем культурної та історичної вразливості.

Присвячую моєму другу Вадиму від якого почула надзвичайно болючі слова: я не памʼятаю яким я був у дитинстві, Немає жодної людини що може мені про це розповісти. Всі мої спогади та свідків мого дитинства знищила російська армія.
