I created this project on behalf of Ukrainian Trauma. But not as therapy, and not as an invitation to sympathy. It is an attempt to grant trauma subjectivity and the right to speak for itself, without the demand to be convenient, restrained, or correct.
It is a continuation of my public position: to speak aloud where silence is expected, and not to apologize for the fact that reality turns out to be harsher than the comfortable outside gaze would prefer.
I work within a context in which Ukrainians are constantly forced to explain their pain, justify their anger and reactions, and soften their position. I am not afraid to criticize internal processes within the state, including those in the artistic and political spheres. More than once, I have been urged to “be more delicate,” “not make things sharper,” to be “less sensitive,” and I have been threatened with the loss of social or professional opportunities. Certain repressive actions have also been taken against me, excluding me from particular artistic events or denying me access to them.
This project is a direct refusal of such a logic, such a position: the demand to fit the criteria of others.
It is precisely from this experience that this monologue emerges.
In the letter, Trauma speaks directly: without apology and without moralizing. It does not ask for understanding and does not explain itself. It records the consequences of historical events that have exceeded individual experience and become part of the composition, the structure of life, rather than a private emotion.
The letter unfolds as a confession in which Trauma is neither weakness nor defeat. It is a trace. It simply is. It is the imprint of what has been lived through, endured, and not yet brought to an end.
This installation was not created to soothe.
It was created for a confrontation with the reality that people are too often encouraged to turn away from.

Цей проєкт я створила від імені української Травми. Але не як терапію і не як запрошення до співчуття. Це спроба надати травмі суб’єктність і право говорити самостійно, без вимоги бути зручною, стриманою чи коректною.
Це продовження моєї публічної позиції: говорити вголос там, де пропонують мовчати, і не вибачатися за те, що реальність виявляється жорсткішою, ніж очікує комфортний погляд ззовні.
Я працюю в контексті, де українців постійно змушують пояснювати свій біль, виправдовувати свою злість, реакції, пом’якшувати свою позицію. У мене немає страху критикувати внутрішні процеси в державі: як-то мистецького чи політичного середовища. Мене неодноразово закликали «бути делікатнішою», «не загострювати», бути «менш чутливою» та лякали втратою соціальних чи професійних активів, а також вводили проти мене певні репресивні дії, виключаючи з певних мистецьких заходів або відмовляючи в них.
Проєкт є прямою відмовою від такої логіки / позиції - бути підхожою до критеріїв інших.
Саме з цього досвіду і з’являється цей монолог.
В листі Травма говорить прямо: без вибачень і без моралізації. Вона не просить розуміння і не пояснює себе. Вона фіксує наслідки історичних подій, які перевищили індивідуальний досвід і стали частиною композиції, структури життя, а не приватною емоцією.
Лист розгортається як сповідь, у якій Травма не є слабкістю чи поразкою. Вона - це слід. Вона просто є. Вона - відбиток прожитого, перенесеного і ще не завершеного.
Ця інсталяція не створена для заспокоєння.
Вона створена для зіткнення з реальністю, від якої надто часто пропонують відвернутися.
